Newcastle Innovation Centre (UK) is a key hub for cleaning technology, enzyme research and product design for laundry applications. In ICO₂NIC, the team will evaluate CO₂-derived fatty acids for use in more sustainable detergent formulations, assessing their applicability, processability, performance and material properties in laundry powders.
Brussels Innovation Centre (Belgium) is one of P&G’s major global R&D hubs. It is focused on wider Fabric and home care categories, as well as upstream corporate functions, bringing together more than 850 scientists and engineers working on holistic product innovation. Within ICO₂NIC, the team will assess whether formic acid and fatty acids derived from CO₂ can be used in descalers, surfactants, fabric softening agents and potential silicone alternatives in beauty products.
Both teams aim to demonstrate the successful integration of CO₂-derived ingredients into consumer products, lowering the carbon footprint of formulations while delivering the right performance and value to consumers. Discover more about P&G here. Explore the ICO₂NIC consortium here.
